Alison Graab is a seasoned policy expert who joined Alpine Group from the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations, serving as clerk/staff director for the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD). While in the Senate, Alison worked with the “Group of 10” Senators negotiating the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act as the group’s key policy expert on transportation matters.
In in her role on the Committee, Alison oversaw more than $160 billion in budgetary resources annually and the reinstitution of congressionally directed spending for THUD for the first time in a decade. She also worked closely with the Subcommittee’s Ranking Member to draft appropriations bills, oversee and manage congressionally directed spending requests, and analyze budget requests from agencies over which the Subcommittee has jurisdiction. Prior to her role with the Senate Appropriations Committee, Alison was at the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, where she, among other roles, served as policy director for the Surface Transportation Subcommittee and Oceans Subcommittee.
Prior to serving in the Senate, Alison was an attorney for the Surface Transportation Board in Washington, D.C., drafting decisions and rules in formal proceedings before the agency. Formerly a practicing attorney, Alison launched her legal career at a law firm in Washington, where she represented clients in a broad range of energy and environmental issues.
Alison graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with degrees in Earth and Atmospheric Science and International Affairs. She earned her law degree from William & Mary.
