Alpine Announces Promotions, Elevates Five Advisors to SVP, VP

Leading consulting firm recognizes expertise, experience and impact of its seasoned policy and legislative experts with promotions

Washington, D.C. – The Alpine Group – a bipartisan, bicameral consulting firm in Washington, D.C. – announced five promotions today, noting combined over 30 years of lobbying at the firm among the newly elevated strategists. Alpine promoted Vice Presidents Lauren Bazel, Barry Brown, Michael Haywood, and Curtis Philp to Senior Vice Presidents. The firm promoted Policy Director Jenny Forrest to Vice President. In making these elevations, Alpine acknowledged the unique impact and many successes of their team.

These promotions reflect Alpine's commitment to fostering growth and recognizing the expertise cultivated within its team. As Alpine continues to navigate the complex landscape of policy and legislation, these individuals will play pivotal roles in guiding clients through strategy and advocacy while helping clients navigate the complex world of Capitol Hill.

Lauren Bazel has been with Alpine since 2013 and is one of the firm’s tax, budget and economic experts. She offers our clients a unique perspective built from a diverse career that has included work as a tax journalist, an advocate on behalf of corporate clients, and as a government affairs director at a public policy think tank. She also has served in senior staff positions for Senators Maria Cantwell (D-WA), John Kerry (D-MA) and William “Mo” Cowan (D-MA).

Barry Brown brings a wide range of expertise to Alpine, covering telecommunications, trade, energy and higher education. He has more than two decades of service on Capitol Hill including as Chief of Staff to Congressman Michael C. Burgess, MD (R-TX), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and senior Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Congresswoman Kay Granger (R-TX), Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Congressman Larry Combest (R-TX).

Michael Haywood represents a diverse group of Fortune 500 companies, prominent international trade associations, and other key energy participants before Congress and the administration. During his seven-year tenure at Alpine, the firm has seen exponential growth in its energy and sustainability practice. Mike has guided clients, especially those in electric utilities, oil and gas producers, and renewable companies through the country’s ongoing energy transition. Prior to Alpine, he worked for Members of the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees as well as standing up the LTD Group (Living The Dream).

Curtis Philp joined Alpine in 2019 following his role as Deputy Chief of Staff to former Congressman Lamar Smith (TX-21) and as a staff member with the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. He brings a varied portfolio of expertise to Alpine, in areas including intellectual property matters, privacy, and technology.

Jenny Forrest has been with Alpine since 2022 and has led advocacy efforts for clients to secure over $500M of funding opportunities to-date for onshoring and expanding domestic supply chains. She brings a range of experience from the public and private sector. Previously, she was a Strategic Advisor for the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, former Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) and worked for PepsiCo's North American Sustainability team to integrate sustainability across engineering, government affairs, and corporate strategy teams.
