Overview

The Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Coalition was established in 2024 to accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable aviation fuel in the United States. Representing the full SAF value chain, the Coalition advances policies that expand domestic production, strengthen economic competitiveness, and create new opportunities across agriculture, manufacturing, and energy. In 2024, as key tax provisions approached expiration, the SAF market faced a pivotal moment that required rapid coordination across a fragmented industry. Alpine was engaged to bring structure to that moment, align stakeholders, define a path forward, and execute a strategy capable of delivering meaningful policy outcomes.

Our Approach

The work began with a comprehensive assessment of the market, policy environment, and stakeholder landscape. From there, Alpine established the foundation for alignment.

The SAF Coalition was stood up as a nonprofit, nonpartisan platform representing airlines, energy producers, manufacturers, technology developers, and airports across the full value chain. Stakeholders with differing priorities were brought together and aligned around a single advocacy strategy focused on scaling domestic production, strengthening U.S. competitiveness, and accelerating deployment. With that alignment in place, engagement with policymakers followed. A bipartisan structure for sustained dialogue was created, and a coordinated advocacy strategy was executed at both the federal and state levels.
