Top Washington Lobbying Firm Grows, Adding Highly Experienced Policy Expert to Its Ranks

Washington, D.C. –– The Alpine Group – a bipartisan, bicameral consulting firm in Washington, D.C. – announced today that Alison Graab, most recently from the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has joined the firm as Senior Vice President. Formerly a practicing attorney, Graab is also a veteran Capitol Hill advisor with half a decade of experience guiding Senate principals on transportation and infrastructure policy among other highly visible issues.

In her role with the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Graab served as clerk/staff director for the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee. There, she worked closely with the Subcommittee’s Ranking Member to draft appropriations bills, oversee and manage congressionally directed spending requests, and analyze budget requests from agencies over which the Subcommittee has jurisdiction. She also worked with the bipartisan “Group of 10” Senators who negotiated the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, serving as the group’s key policy expert on transportation matters and helping to negotiate with key White House officials on details of the legislation.

“We help connect our clients with the most influential policymakers because our team has handson experience at the highest levels of government and Alison Graab is no exception. We are thrilled to welcome her and know that our clients and partners will benefit greatly from her deep experience in Congress,” said Les Spivey, CEO and Managing Principal of the Alpine Group. “As the Administration further focuses on implementation and Congress looks to build on their bipartisan infrastructure success, Alison’s insights will set our clients apart from their competitors.”

“Alpine Group has a reputation for expertly guiding its clients through the halls of Congress and I am excited to join this stellar team. With the passage of significant legislation in the last several months and a critical election in just a matter of weeks, it is more important than ever that clients receive smart counsel and have a clear understanding of how policies impact their business as well as how they can engage to shape policymaking,” said Alison Graab. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues and our clients at such a pivotal time.”

Prior to her role with Senate Appropriations, Graab worked with the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, where she served as policy director for the Surface Transportation Subcommittee and the Oceans Subcommittee. Before her role as policy director, she served as deputy policy director for the Surface Transportation Subcommittee.

Before her time in the Senate, Alison was an attorney for the Surface Transportation Board in Washington, D.C., and before that in private practice, as an associate in the Energy and Environmental group at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP in Washington. Graab is from Alpharetta, GA. She earned her bachelor’s degrees from Georgia Tech in International Affairs and Earth and Atmospheric Science, and she earned her law degree from William & Mary.

The Alpine Group is consistently ranked one of the top lobbying firms in Washington, and its staff are recognized both for their policy and political expertise. Consisting of 25 professionals representing years of experience in a variety of senior political capacities, the firm provides strategic advice and implements tactics to help clients successfully navigate the halls of Congress, the White House, and federal agencies.
