September 12, 2023

Top Washington Lobbying Firm Grows with Hire of Top Congressional Aide Satalin as Vice President and Helen Treadway as Staff Assistant

Washington, D.C. –– The Alpine Group – a bipartisan, bicameral consulting firm in Washington, D.C. – announced today that Patrick Satalin, most recently top aide to Senator Peter Welch (DVT) on his Senate campaign and his House office, has joined the company as Vice President.

Prior to overseeing Welch’s successful Senate campaign, Satalin spent more than a decade as a trusted advisor in then-Congressman Welch’s office. Alpine also announced the addition of Helen Treadway as staff assistant. Treadway spent time in Virginia politics and as an aide in the U.S. Senate.

After starting in Rep. Welch’s office in 2011 as legislative assistant, Satalin eventually grew his role to oversee all political, policy, and communications operations in the office. Satalin led the office throughout Rep. Welch’s service on three major committees – House Energy and Commerce, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and House Oversight and Reform. Satalin also led Rep. Welch's work as a Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Caucus and worked with House leadership to help secure the votes to pass major legislation, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Chips and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act.

"Patrick Satalin is the ultimate triple threat: He has deep policy expertise, a sharp political mind, and an instinctual grounding in the needs of everyday people that cuts through the noise in Washington,” said Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT). “I was fortunate to work alongside Patrick for more than a decade – and he was critical to my successful Senate run. As my Chief of Staff, I relied on Patrick for all this, in addition to leading my team in Washington, D.C. and in Vermont. I have no doubt Patrick will bring his many talents to bear at the Alpine Group and his clients will be better served for having the opportunity to work with him. I am honored to call him a friend and wish him well in this next adventure."

“Adding Patrick and Helen is a win for both our company and our clients. Patrick is a seasoned veteran who knows the players, issues and intricacies of Washington,” said Les Spivey, CEO and Managing Principal of the Alpine Group. “His extensive knowledge of policy and Congressional operations will prove to be critical in guiding our clients and partners toward legislative victories and through challenges. Heading into the high stakes facing Congress this fall, we’re lucky to be strengthening our team with Patrick and Helen – who is quickly becoming invaluable here at Alpine.”

During Senator Welch’s 2022 U.S. Senate campaign, Satalin provided strategic advice, helped lead the staff, and was responsible for building and maintaining relationships between the campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. During his decade in Welch’s House office, Satalin served as legislative assistant, legislative director, deputy chief of staff and then chief of staff in addition to overseeing the Senate campaign. Satalin earned his bachelor’s degree from Catholic University and an MPA from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University.

At the same time, Alpine announced the hire of Helen Treadway, who joined the company as a staff assistant. Previously, Treadway worked in several Virginia state and local campaigns and served as a United States Senate Doorkeeper and Senate Page. She graduated from William & Mary.
