At a Ceremony Held Yesterday, Reed Received the Prestigious “Reginald ‘Reg’ Gilliam Award”

Washington, D.C. – The Alpine Group, a bipartisan, bicameral consulting firm in Washington, D.C., announced today that Keenan Austin Reed, Executive Vice President, was honored with the Reginald “Reg” Gilliam Lobbyist of the Year Award from the prestigious Washington Government Relations Group (WGRG). Reed received the award at the Twelfth Annual Tin Cup Awards Dinner on Wednesday, July 19th.

“Keenan is a leader in our field and our firm. She is so deserving of this recognition and we thank WGRG for honoring her in this way,” said Les Spivey, CEO and Managing Principal of the Alpine Group. “Keenan’s contributions go above and beyond client service and it is more than fitting for her to receive an award named after a trailblazer in our industry. Alpine is proud to celebrate the remarkable work she does for our clients and the community as she champions not just the issues important to the work we do, but important to who she is as well. I congratulate Keenan on behalf of our team and our clients.”

The Reginald “Reg” Gilliam Lobbyist of the Year Award is granted annually to an outstanding African-American lobbyist selected by WGRG, a non-partisan, independent, volunteer association whose goal is to enhance the leadership prowess and careers of African-American government relations professionals. Reginald Gilliam was a renowned lobbyist and one of the first African Americans to achieve senior status in the US Senate. Gilliam was a founder of the Harvard Black Law Student Association and served as its first chairman.

“I am both and honored and humbled to receive this award from a group of my peers. I feel fortunate to do such rewarding work alongside so many talented professionals. Lobbying is a team sport, and this recognition underscores our collective effort to serve as a critical tool of our democracy, amplify the concerns of the unheard and champion causes that desperately need attention. I remain committed to using my platform to drive positive change,” said Keenan Austin Reed, Executive Vice President at Alpine Group and Lobbyist of the Year award recipient.

Keenan Austin Reed was recognized for her career excellence, achievements in government relations and contributions to her community. In addition to her work at Alpine, Reed is the Chair and Co-Founder of the Black Women’s Congressional Alliance (BWCA), a membership organization of more than 700 bipartisan and bicameral Black women Hill staffers. She is also Advisory Council Chair at GlobalWIN, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF) Corporate Advisory Council, and Vice Chair of SOME’s (So Others May Eat) Corporate Advisory Board. In May of 2021, Reed testified before the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. The focus of her testimony was recruiting, maintaining, and empowering diverse congressional staff.

Prior to joining Alpine Group, Reed spent over a decade on Capitol Hill serving as the Chief of Staff to the late Congressman Donald McEachin (D-VA) and Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (D-FL). Keenan also served as Hillary for America’s Statewide Political Director in Florida during the 2016 presidential election.
