Veteran Health Care Policy Leader Joins Top DC Lobbying Firm as Vice President
Washington, D.C. –– The Alpine Group, a bipartisan, bicameral consulting firm with offices in Washington, D.C. and Dallas–Ft. Worth, announced today that Erin Mendelsohn has joined the firm as Vice President. Mendelsohn brings two decades of health care policy experience from Capitol Hill, federal regulatory agencies, and the biopharmaceutical industry, and her addition further strengthens Alpine’s robust health policy practice as Congress and the Administration continue to navigate major legislative and regulatory inflection points in the healthcare space.
Mendelsohn spent a decade on Capitol Hill, including serving as Legislative Director and Special Advisor to Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo (D-CA), where she played a pivotal role in shaping landmark healthcare legislation, including the Affordable Care Act, the regulatory framework for biosimilars, and multiple reauthorizations of key FDA programs such as user fees and the Pandemic All-Hazards Preparedness Act.
“Erin brings a rare blend of legislative, regulatory, and industry expertise to our team. Her time at the FDA and in the halls of Congress gives her a 360-degree view of the healthcare ecosystem, and she knows how to drive meaningful policy change while balancing the needs of regulators, lawmakers, patients, and innovators,” said Keenan Austin Reed, CEO and Managing Principal of The Alpine Group. “We’re thrilled to welcome her to Alpine. With so many significant healthcare policy battles brewing before Congress and the Trump administration right now, her expertise will be invaluable to our team and our clients.”
“Nothing is more important than relationships built on trust. I look forward to bringing those trusted relationships to my work at Alpine to help our clients navigate the dynamic health policy environment,” Mendelsohn said. “I’ll be guiding them through policy complexities and supporting them in advancing their goals on the issues that matter most, especially at this moment of rapid change when expert counsel is more important than ever.”
Following her tenure on Capitol Hill, Mendelsohn joined the FDA as Congressional Liaison for the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), where she fostered bipartisan collaboration to align the agency’s public health mission with congressional priorities. She later held senior roles at PhRMA, Takeda, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals, advocating for biopharmaceutical innovation and shaping sound healthcare policy through coalition building and strategic engagement across the private sector.
Mendelsohn earned her B.A. in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her family.
